Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is responsible for the investigation of crimes committed in Tuscaloosa County by both adults and juveniles. The crimes range from robbery, burglary, financial crime, theft, juvenile crime, sexual and physical abuse and the exploitation of children.

There are nine case investigators assigned to four districts, one investigator assigned exclusively to child physical/sexual abuse, one sex offender/animal control compliance investigator and one investigator assigned to process Crime Scenes. Also assigned are one Lieutenant, and one Sergeant.  Investigators are trained in utilizing the latest technology to assist in the investigation of crimes. Specialized training is stressed within the division, and includes arson investigation, voice stress analysis, electronic tracking devices, video surveillance, computer crimes, and crime scene processing.  The Criminal Investigations Division is headed by Lt.Gary Hood
